I still think Beatrix Potter was the founder of the Fabian Society.
Oh, come! Old Whiskers wrote that there are plenty of things to laud the bourgeois for. Writing entertaining books is one (I don't think Potter's as vile as the one who wrote the Thomas the Tank-Engine bilge).

Ah, that was a nice one from Scott.
I've noticed that too and find the paternalism and class divisions described their to be irritating.
But when young James wants to watch "Thomas!" sometimes it means 7 minutes of relative peace, as opposed to the 1-2 minute youtube videos of GO trains and freight-trains ("ding-ding trains") that he otherwise wants to see.
